Genesis

The organization has been promoted by a group of social minded people in a rural area committed for the development of the local aread and surroundings.

Finally the organization 'Kalyani Foundation' has been formed and registered under trust registration act 1882, Govt. of West Bengal. Since the formation of the organization, it has started few development activities in the area to serve the people of the area. The member of the organization hope that, in the near future many more activities to be start for the benefit of the people tapping resources from Individual donation, Government Departments and other Supporting agencies.

Though we have been started activities initially in Chatna Block, Bankura District, West Bengal later this been extended to other nearby blocks. Even several activities have been undertaken in few blocks in Bankura. We have been initiated a number of baseline studies in different Gram Maheshana to know the real problem of the people of the area. Our main focus right from the beginning was Empowerment of the Village people with special reference to skill development, education and health promotion, livelihood development, environment promotion and to support basic urgent services to our target area people tapping resources from various agencies.

We have a team of dedicated organization members both male and female, committed staff and volunteers who grounded the activities in the field level. As we have implemented all activities in consultation of the local people and community based groups (CBOs), in all our activities we got full support and participation at the village level which is one of our basic strengthen. As an organization, we have a number of plan to work for the children in the area through establishment of schools, development of an integrated skill training center, old age home for the elderly people etc for which we are in search of support to materialize our plans in the future.

Initiate various developmental activities for the advancement of the people in its working area with special reference to the women and children tapping resources from the State Govt. Departments, Central Government, Autonomous Institutions and other philanthropic Organizations for the benefit of the people of its target area

District Profile (Bankura)

Bankura district is situated in the state of West Bengal, India and is a very important district in terms of ancient history and culture. Bankura has a population of around 3,596,292 of which female population is 1,755,788 and male population is 1,840,504 approximately in 2011. The population density here is 464 people per sq km. the district administers 6,882 sqkm of areas. The literacy rate is 70.95 according to 2011 reports of which male literacy rate is 81.00 and 60.44 female. The sex ration of Bankura district according to 2011 report is 943 girls per 1000 boys. Bankura has the highest tribal population in the state. comprises of major industries like rice, cotton weaving and oil seed milling. The high necked terracotta horse here is very famous. Temples like Raghunath Mandir and the Ekteshwar Mandi are some of the attractions here.
